Juvenile justice officers and professionals play a crucial role in keeping our communities safe and turning around the lives of disadvantaged and troubled young people. The Center for Improving Youth Justice (CIYJ) Annual Awards Night Gala celebrates these dedicated and compassionate public servants who work hard daily to rehabilitate and support the young people in their care.
The desire to help young people drives many of these professionals. They serve as positive role models and create trusting relationships that are often the most important factor in reducing recidivism. They are responsible for 24/7 care and yet, they continue to be the unsung heroes of youth services and law enforcement.
We honor them and recognize their accomplishments with the Barbara Allen-Hagen Award presented annually at our Awards Night held in conjunction with the American Correctional Association (ACA) Congress. Award recipients are selected from more than 150 facilities and programs across the country who participate in the CIYJ’s signature program for continuous improvement, Performance-based Standards.
